Trail del Falco is a trail running race held in Gravina in Puglia, located in the province of Bari in southern Italy. It takes place in late May, beginning in the morning, and features a route up to 15 km, not an ultra-distance event. The XXVI designation in its name, along with the alternative title 26 Giro del Falco, indicates a long-standing local series that has had over two dozen editions. The course is characterized as challenging, guiding runners through natural surroundings near Gravina and the Murgia Hills. A unique aspect is that the route crosses the cellars of the Murgia Hills, providing a setting deeply connected to the local landscape and terrain. The event targets experienced trail runners, though it also attracts enthusiasts, with hundreds anticipated at the start.
The II Murgeopark Trail Experience is a competitive trail running event in Corato, Bari area, Puglia, taking place in November. It focuses on off-road running within the Murgia landscape, offering participants multiple distance choices instead of a single race format. The available options span from 5 km and 10 km runs to 10 miles, a half marathon, 30 km, a marathon, and ultra distances. Categories include trail, ultra trail, sky race, vertical, stage-race, and other distances. BA043 is the organizer, with Luigi Perrone as the contact. The "II^" in the title signifies this is the second edition.
Running: Locals run Andria with a practical mindset, using the city centre for steady days and the Murgia edge when the legs need more bite. Andria does not hand you named running routes in the brief, so runners build loops from known ground and keep it simple. A.S.D. Culturale Andriasveva and Planet Andria S.S.D. ARL sit in the local sport scene, and serious clubs matter here. The 6 Ore Andria works as the anchor event. The Giro del Falco also gives runners a Murgia Hills target inside the 50 km race circle.
Cycling: Locals ride out of Andria toward the Murgia when they want base miles with shape. The Murgia Hills sit south of the city, and Castel del Monte puts a clear hill marker inside Parco nazionale dell'Alta Murgia. Coq D'or is the cycling name from the local club list, and riders looking for company start there. Andria gives you service-road rhythm near town, then Murgia terrain when Z2 turns into tempo. The brief names no local crit or gran fondo, so the anchor feeling comes from the climbs and the Castel del Monte direction.
Season: Andria trains best when the day gives you room to work, because the brief gives no named best months. Locals keep summer simple, with earlier starts, shorter hard intervals, and cleaner Z2 before the heat owns the day. The city centre stays useful for running when you want control, and the Murgia Hills stay useful for riders when the effort needs teeth. Winter changes the mood more than the map, with runners leaning on steady city loops and cyclists choosing Murgia days when the road feels right.
