About this race
Montanaro Trail is a mountain running series in the Pistoia side of the Apennines. Race day is set in May, with entries opening in November. The main races include a 50 km trail with 3,550 meters of climbing and a 25 km option with 1,700 meters. A 12 km Nordic Walking route is also available for those seeking a shorter path.
The courses traverse the Montagna Pistoiese, winding through ancient woods and offering open Apennine viewpoints. The 50 km race presents a challenging mountain course, and the 25 km option still provides significant elevation for its distance. The Nordic Walking route remains almost entirely on trail. The event's motto, "running, breathing, and feeling the mountains," reflects a race designed for steep terrain rather than flat speed.
