About this race
In Capodacqua di Foligno, the Pale Hero Trail takes runners from the village into the steep Umbrian mountains each June. ASD Molon Labe organizes the event, with help from local groups in Capodacqua and Pale. The program features two races: a 22 km route with 1,500 meters of elevation gain and a 15 km route with 800 meters of elevation gain. Both are run in semi-self-sufficiency, requiring runners to manage their needs between aid and control points.
The courses traverse mountain paths, mule tracks, and dirt roads in the Valle del Menotre. The 22 km race is the more challenging option, featuring technical sections, rock passages, and areas where runners might need to use their hands or ropes. It also counts towards the UTMB Index and ITRA points, awarding one ITRA point to finishers, and serves as the FIDAL Regional Short Trail Championship. The 15 km race also provides UTMB Index points and is suitable for runners transitioning from road running or seeking a shorter mountain challenge. Entry requires a FIDAL membership card and a medical certificate; places are limited, and the event includes timing and medical support.
