About this race
The longest Südtirol Ultra Skyrace option covers 117 km through the Sarentine Alps, featuring over 7,200 metres of elevation gain. Based in Sarentino, South Tyrol, northern Italy, the event takes place near the end of August. It offers four race distances: the 26.8 km Sky Trail, the 45 km Sky Marathon, the 63 km Skyrace, and the 117 km Ultra Skyrace. Even the shortest route involves approximately 1,800 metres of climbing, indicating challenging mountain running from the outset. The races are also part of the UTMB Index system.
The full course crosses the Alta Via “Hufeisentour” within the Sarentine Alps, presenting high-altitude sections, forest paths, and extended open mountain terrain. The 63 km race includes over 4,100 metres of ascent, and the 45 km option has about 2,585 metres of climbing. Established in 2013, the event attracts a predominantly European field, with significant participation from Italian and German runners, though athletes from Austria, France, the United States, Angola, Mexico, and St. Lucia have also competed. One past edition saw around 340 registered participants, creating an international atmosphere without becoming an overly large event.
