About this race
Triathlon Gennargentu Cross is an off-road triathlon in central Sardinia, centered on Lake Gusana in the Gennargentu mountains near Gavoi and Fonni. It typically takes place in early May, featuring a main race with a 1 km swim, approximately 25-26 km on the bike, and a 6 km run. Shorter distances include a 750 m swim, a 12.5 km bike leg, and a 4 km run, with options for children and juniors.
The location is Barbagia, a mountain area where Lake Gusana lies beneath hills covered with holm oaks and Mediterranean scrub. The lake was formed by damming the Rio Gennargentu between the late 1950s and early 1960s. The event has hosted the Italian Triathlon Cross Country Championship, including junior races, attracting serious cross-triathlon athletes as well as younger competitors and local participants. Three-Experience organizes it with assistance from the Italian Triathlon Federation.
