About this race
La Ultra di Saronno is a track ultramarathon held at the Centro Sportivo Comunale “Colombo-Gianetti” in Saronno, north of Milan. The event features three individual races: 24 hours, 6 hours, and 100 km. The 24-hour and 100 km races are also the Italian track ultramarathon championships. The 100 km and 24-hour races commence in the morning, while the 6-hour race starts before dawn on Sunday. A.S.D. G.A.P. Saronno is the organizer, and all three races are listed on the national FIDAL calendar.
The course utilizes the athletics track, divided for individual runners on lanes one to three and the 24-hour team relay on lanes four to six. The event originated from a 24-hour team relay, which continues to foster a strong club atmosphere; demand is high, with the team cap often filling within weeks and dozens of teams starting. The individual races attract dedicated ultra runners competing for national titles and IUTA tricolor jerseys, while the relay maintains activity through the night with food, music, and support along the track. Participants in the 24-hour race receive two hot meals, a practical detail highlighting the nature of the event: it is a full day and night of laps, pacing, crew support, and endurance.
