About this race
Vibram Ultra Trail Lago d'Orta is an autumn trail-running series based in Omegna, on Lake Orta in Piedmont, Italy. The distances range from short trails to a full ultra, with 12 km, 21 km, 34 km, 55 km, and 100 km options. The long race is a single 100 km loop with 5,270 m of climbing, while the 55 km race is also a single loop and still includes 2,860 m of ascent. The 34 km route adds 2,000 m of climbing, making even the middle-distance option a serious mountain run.
The routes traverse woods, technical trails, hard climbs, and offer viewpoints over Lake Orta and the surrounding mountains. The 100 km, 55 km, and 34 km races award ITRA points, attracting runners building ultra experience and those seeking a demanding day in the mountains. The 55 km race is the most popular of the main formats, with over 500 runners in the previous edition, while the 100 km still had more than 200. Runners also come from outside Italy, and the event connects the racing weekend with local food, villages, and traditions around the lake.
