About this race
The Catania Marathon guides runners through Catania's historical center on a certified city route, recognized by FIDAL and World Athletics. Established to reintroduce marathon running to the Sicilian city, it now offers multiple participation options, including the full marathon and a 10.50 km race starting concurrently.
The event attracts both local participants and numerous international athletes, with recent editions achieving record numbers. The race highlights Catania's historic streets and urban culture, concluding with a post-race gathering featuring local cuisine and entertainment. Notable recent winners include Riccardo Pavone, who secured victory after overcoming challenges in the final ten kilometers, and Sweden's Camilla Lindholm Borg, the women's race winner and an SF50 national masters record holder.
