Arezzo Training Notes
Arezzo hosts 10 Half Marathon races in 2026 within 80 km of the city centre — upcoming dates, recurring series, and other races nearby, all in one place.
Locals run the city by linking Prato Park, Porcinai Gardens, Pionta Park, and Pertini Park in Saione. Prato Park sits at the foot of the Medici Fortress, so even easy days can bite. Pionta Park gives runners a green, hilly area with scenic trails when Z2 needs some shape. The loop covers 53 km and gains +62 m. The loop covers 35 km and gains +1,010 m when you want a big day. Arezzo runners use the race calendar more than a named run club in this brief. Scalata al Castello and XXVII^ Maratonina Citta' di Arezzo are the anchor races.
Locals ride out from the station, through Via Guido Monaco, Via Roma, Corso Italia, and up to Piazza Grande. The Station - Historic Center route takes 10 minutes and gives a moderate climb. The Prato Ring circles the Medici Fortress and Prato Park for 3 km in about 20 minutes. The climbs sit around the historic center, Pionta Park, and the Medici Fortress. Ruscello to the River Arno runs mainly on gravel roads. The road suits a hardtail MTB or a gravel bike, and this is not a hardcore MTB trail. Street Survival Skatepark Bmx e Skate gives the city a BMX corner. Granfondo della Valdichiana and La Chianina Unconventional Bike Adventure anchor the riding year.
Locals get the best dry base miles in July, because July is the driest month. August brings the hottest training, so runners and riders go early and keep intervals short. Arezzo summers stay hot and dry, and the hills make every easy spin or steady run honest. Spring can be windy, so cyclists feel it more on exposed gravel and runners feel it on the climbs. January is the coldest month, but winter stays mild enough for steady Z2. November is the wettest month, so runners lean into parks and cyclists pick firmer roads when the gravel gets soft.
