About this race
The Iwate Morioka City Marathon is a 42.2 km road race held in Morioka, the capital of Iwate Prefecture in northern Japan. It takes place annually in late October, during which the city and nearby mountains display autumn foliage.
The course crosses central Morioka, a city with a history as a castle town. Runners will see Mt. Iwate and a river known for its upstream salmon runs. Local residents provide significant support along the route, and many Morioka citizens volunteer on race day.
