About this race
The Mito Komon Manyu Marathon takes place in Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture, within Japan's Kanto region, during late October. The primary event is the full 42.195 km marathon, complemented by additional distances of 9.5 km, 19.7 km, 29.2 km, 33.4 km, and 38.5 km, accommodating runners of various levels.
The race began in 2016 and is managed by city and athletics organizations, including Mito City, the Mito City Board of Education, and the Ibaraki athletics federation. Participants who finish receive medals and T-shirts. The event also features guest runners, a family run, runner-support initiatives, and shuttle buses to bathing facilities post-race. An option for Furusato Nozei donations is available during entry, and local support comes from media outlets like newspapers and radio, as well as the Tokugawa Museum and Mito Shinkin Bank.
