About this race
Åstveit 3000 is a 3000-meter track race held at Åstveit Idrettspark in Åsane, north of Bergen. I.L. Norna-Salhus organizes this event in November as a straightforward late-season test for runners in the Bergen area seeking to gauge their current form over seven and a half laps.
The format is intentionally simple: participants provide a recent best or season best time, allowing organizers to create balanced heats. The field typically includes young club runners, local amateurs, and older veterans. Notable past participants include Aurora and Even Veen Torkildsen among the fastest, with Robert Hisdal sharing a men's win with Even in 9:36 after recovering from illness. The results from veteran runners are also a draw: Harald Nygard's 12:48 in the M70-74 category secured a top-20 national ranking, and Alf Sverre Fjeldstad's 13:10 in M75-79 placed him second nationally for the distance. The race began as a small arrangement for a running group, but external interest led to its expansion into two heats.
