Nesbyen Backyard

Nesbyen Backyard is a Backyard Ultra held in Nesbyen, Hallingdal, offering 6-hour and 12-hour race options. Participants begin a 6.7 km loop each hour; failure to complete the loop within the hour results in elimination. The format is straightforward to grasp but challenging to execute, as each completed lap leaves only the remaining minutes for recovery, such as eating, changing clothes, using the restroom, and preparing for the next start. The race commences and concludes at Nesbyen Idrettshall. The course follows a repeatable loop around Nesbyen, consisting mainly of asphalt with sections of gravel and trail. All participants completing at least one loop receive prizes, with additional awards for those reaching seven loops, marking the ultra distance threshold. The event also recognizes the top three male and female finishers, the top three in each age category, and distributes over 20 random participant prizes. Access to the venue is available by car via national road 7, by bus, or by train, with the nearest station a roughly 20-minute walk from the sports hall.
