Unionsrittet 2026

Unionsrittet is a gravel race held in Askim, Østfold, with a course set in Indre Østfold and the border region between Norway and Sweden. Gravel Scandinavia is the organizer, and the race takes place in July as a mass-participation event, not solely for elite competitors. The concept is straightforward: riders with varied objectives can compete on the same day, ranging from club racers aiming for a specific outcome to individuals seeking a challenging gravel ride alongside fellow cyclists. The route features a quick circuit within Indre Østfold, meaning the competition focuses on sustained pressure on gravel roads rather than a single, extended point-to-point journey. The event has previously served as an unofficial Norwegian gravel championship and is scheduled to host Norway's inaugural official national gravel championship. Notable past elite finishers include Norwegian club riders Anton H. Stensby and Åshild Tovsrud. The event also includes a gravel expo and accommodation suitable for cyclists at Scandic Hotel Brennemoen, located between Askim and Mysen.
