Huka Steamer and Huka Hundy 2026

The Huka Steamer is a 50km mountain bike race in Taupō. It begins at 9:00am on Tongariro Street and concludes in the town centre. This event is the most popular in its series, featuring approximately 733m of elevation gain. The course consists mainly of Grade 3 tracks, with some Grade 4 sections. The route incorporates pumice-based forest tracks and dedicated trails within Craters Mountain Bike Park. The specific trails used may vary as the park is situated within an active forest. Participants will see Taupō landmarks such as AJ Hackett Bungy, Huka Falls, Aratiatia Dam, the Wairakei silica thermal stream, the Waikato River, and Taupō Marina before the final stretch to the finish. Aid stations are located along the course, with a mid-course cut-off point at The Hub.
