About this race

At the Dunedin Branch Pony Club in Halfway Bush, the Ponydales course is old-school mud-and-spikes territory. The Leith Cross Country Relays and Ponydale Challenge mixes team relay racing with an individual endurance challenge, all built around repeated laps over tough, traditional cross country terrain. It feels like the sort of club day where the course matters more than the fuss around it. Underfoot, expect a true cross country course with hills, grass, and uneven ground, not a polished park loop. Runners hand over in relay teams, while the endurance crowd keeps grinding out laps from the same start, so there is plenty of overlap between fast club legs and people training for rougher off-road efforts. One practical quirk: no dogs are permitted on the grounds.
