About this race
Bieg ku Wolności is a Polish local race series built around patriotic and community remembrance, with events in Uszew and Pilzno. In Uszew, the program runs from children’s racing through a 10 km main race, with a 5 km youth run and a 3.5 km Nordic Walking option as well. The start and finish there are at the ORLIK sports complex, and the event is organized by the Volunteer Fire Department in Uszew with support from local government, veterans’ groups, and community associations. Pilzno’s edition is centered on the town Market Square, where the start, finish, and race office are all based.
The Uszew race commemorates Second Lieutenant Jan Zydroń, a local figure who died in battle in 1920, so the event has a stronger historical tone than a standard village road race. Its distances make room for children, teenagers, walkers, and adult runners on the same day. In Pilzno, the event honors the anniversary of the beatification of Blessed Karolina Kózkówna and also promotes running in the town. Children’s races there are split by age group, are free to enter, and use a marked route through the Market Square and nearby Kapuścińskiego, Węgierska, and Grodzka streets.
