Bieg na Wielką Sowę 2026

Bieg na Wielką Sowę takes runners from Ludwikowice Kłodzkie up to the 1,015 m summit of Wielka Sowa over approximately 10 km. This August mountain race is part of Poland’s Góry Sowie and is also included in the Grand Prix Gór Sowich, a four-race trail series held from July to November. The series is organized by Centrum Kultury Gminy Nowa Ruda in Ludwikowice Kłodzkie and also features the Sowiogórski Half Marathon / Sowiogórska Dycha, Górski Bieg Niepodległości, and Orzeł Mountain Half Marathon. The Wielka Sowa route begins at the sports field on ul. J. Kasprowicza 47. It follows about 2 km of public roads before transitioning to gravel and forest paths. The elevation profile shows the challenge: roughly +600 m of climbing and only about -60 m of descent, ascending from 475 m above sea level to the highest point in the Owl Mountains. The course is marked every kilometer, with the final kilometer marked every 100 m. Runners will find three aid stations, two offering water and one with an isotonic drink. The race has a 900-person limit and includes open, age-group, and team classifications. The local circuit consistently attracts skilled mountain runners and participants completing a full season in the Grand Prix.
