Formoza Challenge Gdynia is a beach obstacle race held at Babie Doły, on Gdynia's northern edge by the Baltic Sea. It is part of the Formoza Challenge autumn series, with the main adult route typically around 6 km. The race adopts a military style: runners navigate water, mud, sand, and several dozen obstacles instead of a standard road or trail course. Adults can compete in individual, Ultra Challenge, and Team Challenge formats, while children have separate Kids Short and Kids Long races.
The course takes runners along the beach and into the sea, with crossings through Baltic water and tasks that interrupt the running. Obstacles may include carrying sections, shooting-range elements, grenade throws, riddles, and other mental puzzles, requiring both strength and problem-solving. The event is inspired by the training culture of Jednostka Wojskowa Formoza, Poland's naval special-forces unit, and incorporates knowledge and equipment associated with Formoza and other military units. Previous editions have attracted several hundred participants, with amateur runners, teams, children, and serious obstacle-course racers present at the event site.
