About this race
The Gdynia round of Formoza Challenge is a beach obstacle race at Babie Doły, on the northern edge of Gdynia by the Baltic Sea. It is part of the autumn series and uses a roughly 6 km course for the main adult formats: Individual Race, Ultra Challenge, and Team Challenge. The event also includes Kids Short and Kids Long races, catering to children, amateurs, team entrants, and serious obstacle-course runners on the same day.
The race is inspired by the training of Jednostka Wojskowa Formoza, Poland’s naval special-forces unit. The course sends runners over sand and into water, featuring sea crossings, carrying tasks, shooting-range elements, grenade throws, riddles, and other mental puzzles. The obstacles incorporate knowledge from JW Formoza and equipment from Formoza and other military units, giving the event a distinct military-training feel compared to a standard mud run. Hundreds of competitors and spectators attend annually, and the setting connects the race closely to Gdynia’s coastal and military identity.
