The Gdyński Bieg Niepodległości is a 10 km road race held annually in Gdynia, Poland, each November on Independence Day. It concludes the Grand Prix Gdyni series, drawing thousands of participants and establishing itself as one of Poland’s major running events. Beyond the main 10 km race, the day features Nordic walking and shorter distances for children and juniors.
The course is a fast, paved route along Gdynia’s main streets, including sections by the seafront. Participants run past key locations like Świętojańska Street and Skwer Kościuszki, often with the autumn sea air present. Many runners don white and red attire, creating a visual representation of the Polish flag. Participants completing the race are awarded a commemorative medal, frequently designed with historical or maritime motifs reflecting the national holiday and Gdynia’s identity as a coastal city.
