About this race
The Wataha Extreme Triathlon is a mountain triathlon series held in Poland’s Bieszczady Mountains, near Solina and Cisna. It takes place in September and includes both land and water segments. The organizer also lists separate swim and run variations. The race location is situated close to lakes, forests, the Bieszczady National Park, and the Ciśniańsko-Wetliński Landscape Park, giving the event a remote atmosphere.
The courses feature hilly terrain with varied elevation. Distances range from shorter options, like an 11 km route with 387 m of elevation gain, to longer ones, such as a 54 km route with 966 m of elevation gain. The finish line is located on the summit of Smerka, offering views toward the połoniny, the open mountain meadows characteristic of the Bieszczady range. The area’s clean air, high water purity, low population density, and autumn foliage contribute to the race’s appeal for those seeking a challenging outdoor event over a flat road triathlon.
