Kraków Training Notes
Krakow hosts 20 Half Marathon races in 2026 within 80 km of the city centre — upcoming dates, recurring series, and other races nearby, all in one place.
Locals run Kraków like a compact training map, with easy Z2 on the Vistula River Path and sharper loops around Błonia Park, Jordan Park, and Planty Park. Planty Park circles Old Town, and one lap gives about two miles without leaving the city centre. The Vistula River Path stays flat, wide, and well maintained, so intervals work there without many interruptions. Krakow Running Club, Błonia Runners, and Krakow Run keep the social side simple. Krakow Run meets every Saturday from 10:00 to 11:30 AM at ulica Jagiellońska 10. Cracovia Marathon, Cracovia Royal Half Marathon, Cracovia 10K Night Run, and Biegi Kraków 2026 anchor the calendar.
Locals ride from the city centre because Kraków has 165 km of bicycle infrastructure and 150 bike stations, so base miles start fast. The Vistula Cycle Route gives clean river riding, and the Małopolska section runs 230 kilometers from Oświęcim through Kraków to Szczucin. The route has 210 kilometers complete, mostly on flood embankment bike paths. Kraków Road Cycling Crew, Kraków Gravel Gang, AZS Kraków club, and Krakowski Klub Rowerowy cover road, gravel, and group pace. Puszcza Dulowska gives a solid gravel day, and the Kraków-Katowice line through it runs about 90km with 60-70% unpaved forest roads. The climbs sit north-west in the limestone valleys, with steep roads and a few singletrack bits.
May, June, and September suit both sports best, with mild days and enough daylight for proper weekday volume. July brings peak summer, and the average high reaches 24-25°C while days above 30°C are increasingly common. June gets 70-80 mm of rain, and July gets 80-90 mm, so locals still ride and run but keep plans flexible. Winter changes the job. Cold weeks push average temperatures below freezing, and January-February bring the snowiest stretch in a year that averages 20-30 snowy days. Runners keep Planty Park, Błonia Park, and the Vistula River Path useful, while cyclists shift toward shorter Z2, gravel checks, and careful club rides.
