About this race
Stockholms Brantaste is a short hill race on Hammarbybacken in Stockholm, centered on a straightforward concept: run hard up and down the city’s ski hill. The main race covers just over 3 km, or about 3.5 km according to some sources, featuring steep inclines and over 200 metres of elevation gain. It welcomes both experienced runners and novices, though the format is undeniably demanding: three ascents, two distinct ski slopes, and sufficient climbing to ensure lactic acid and determination are key components of the competition.
The finish line is situated at the summit of Hammarbybacken, offering participants a panoramic view of Stockholm following the last ascent. The event provides timing, a race bib, a medal, post-race services, hydration points, and awards for the top three finishers. Younger participants can compete in races like Brantaste Mini, Brantaste Minsta, and Valles kompislopp. Additionally, a recent relay format allows teams of 2-4 individuals to complete eight laps of approximately 1 km each, ascending Årebacken and descending the adjacent gravel path.
