Täby Extreme Challenge
Täby Extreme Challenge is a trail running series held in Täby, Stockholm County, Sweden, around mid-April. The distances offered increase significantly: TEC 50 Miles covers 80.3 km, TEC 100 Miles covers 160.7 km, and TEC 200 Miles covers 321.5 km. A night version of the 80.3 km race is also available, meaning even the shortest distance may involve running in darkness. The courses traverse natural terrain surrounding Täby, featuring forests, lakes, and ponds rather than urban streets. The elevation gain is consistent rather than mountainous, with approximately 810 metres for the 50-mile race, 1,610 metres for the 100-mile race, and 3,220 metres for the 200-mile race. The event is part of the UTMB Index calendar. The organizer’s question, “How far are you willing to run?”, encapsulates the event’s purpose: it is designed for prepared runners seeking a substantial distance challenge.
