Recurring 10K races near Zumaia
Races that repeat — weekly, monthly or yearly
Cross 3 Playas
Cross 3 Playas is a 10-kilometer race in Donostia / San Sebastián that follows the city’s three beaches. It is a flat urban run, suitable for experienced runners seeking a steady rhythm and for newer runners wanting a straightforward course without climbs.
The route stays close to the coast, offering a beach-by-beach view of the city instead of heading into the hills surrounding San Sebastián. It is one of the older races in the city, having reached more than thirty editions. Recent fields have also stood out for their gender balance: more than half of the 10K entrants are women, with female registrations ahead of male registrations for a second straight edition.
Hendaye en rose
Hendaye en rose is a Pink October sports and solidarity program in Hendaye, featuring a 5 km walk and a 6 km run. It takes place during October, the breast-cancer awareness month. Hendaye Commerce and local shopkeepers organize the town’s campaign, allowing participation on foot rather than solely offering support from afar.
The program also includes conferences, longe cote, and Nordic walking, extending beyond a single start line. Hendaye Commerce and Cherie FM have supported the breast-cancer campaign for several years, involving local associations, residents, and businesses. Funds raised are donated to research, providing the event with a clear purpose beyond the run and walk.
Txara Trail
Txara Trail is a mountain running event in Markina-Xemein, Bizkaia, offering two race distances: a 17.7 km “mountain half marathon” and the 10.5 km Txaramotx run. The longer race involves 1,150 m of climbing, making it much steeper than its distance suggests; the 10.5 km option includes 600 m of ascent. The longer race starts in the morning, followed shortly by the shorter race. Walkers begin earlier on the same 10.5 km and 17.7 km routes.
The event is part of the Bizkaia running calendar, attracting trail runners in the Basque Country seeking a challenging day in the hills around Markina-Xemein. The event also accommodates non-runners through walking options on the same two distances. Prizes are locally focused: winners receive a Basque cap and baskets of local products, with cash awards for the top finishers in the longer race and local-product baskets for the first local finishers. Practical arrangements include parking, showers, and announced route adjustments near the start and finish areas.
Mutriku Herri Krosa
Mutriku Herri Krosa is a 10 km road race starting and finishing in Mutriku, a coastal town in the Basque Country. The route heads out along the coast towards Deba and returns the same way. Runners encounter the climbs and descents twice, in reverse order. The initial section involves a climb before descending into Deba, and the return leg requires runners to ascend what they previously ran downhill.
The race has been held 21 times, attracting a small local field instead of a large mass start. In the reported edition, 65 runners were classified: 59 men and 6 women. Participation from women and from Bizkaia was lower than in previous years. Triathlete Iker Ormaetxea won the men's race, followed by Julen Etxebarria and Mikel Agirrebeña. Nahia Ibarzabal finished first among the women, with Onintza Zeberio and Nora Etxeberria in second and third places.
Antxintxika Lasterketa
The Antxintxika Lasterketa is a 10 km road race held between Soraluze and Bergara in Gipuzkoa. The route is advertised as 10 kilometers but is not officially homologated. It typically takes place in early November with a 17:00 start, functioning as a popular local race rather than an elite-only event. Many runners use it as a final test a week before the B/SS race, particularly athletes and everyday runners from the Alto Deba region.
The course begins in Soraluze town center, descending to a wide paved bidegorri (bike path). This path follows a green route towards Osintxu, crossing the Deba River via a bridge. After a brief road segment, it rejoins the bidegorri for a mostly flat run with minor undulations. The course reaches the lower section of Bergara around the 7 km mark. From there, a corridor of spectators guides runners into the city center finish, providing more crowd energy to the final stretch than the quieter bike path.
Recent participation has seen fields in the low hundreds, with classified runner totals around 294 and 367.
Ikastegietako Herrikrossa
Azkoitiko Herri Lasterketa
Azkoitiko Herri Lasterketa is a 10K race held in Azkoitia, Basque Country, connected to the San Andrés feast in late November. It typically takes place on the final Saturday of November, frequently the day before the San Sebastián Marathon, establishing its position in the local end-of-season road-racing schedule.
The race follows a two-lap urban-industrial course. Participants report it as fast, well-organized, and competitive. While the route is not officially certified, times recorded are generally fast enough that homologation would enhance the results' utility. Previous participants also note energetic crowd support along the route, indicating it is more than just a fast 10K on paper; it's a local event with genuine street atmosphere.
Maratón de San Sebastián
The San Sebastián Marathon takes place in November in Spain’s Basque Country, near the French border. Participants can choose between a full marathon and a 10 km race. The weather is typically cool and often rainy, and the course is known as one of Spain’s quicker marathon routes.
The course largely stays within the city center, crossing the Urumea River and running along La Concha Bay. It passes notable sites such as Miramar Palace, the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd, and the Sacred Heart statue on Mount Urgull, concluding at Anoeta Stadium. This race originated in the late 1970s, making it Spain’s second oldest marathon. Post-race, runners can explore San Sebastián’s pintxos scene, and a Runner’s Fair is held during race weekend.

Trail de la bixintxo - Ciboure
Trail de la Bixintxo is an urban trail in Ciboure, set during the local Bixintxo festivities. It is organized by the parent-teacher associations of Ciboure schools, with support from the City. The program includes events for various age groups, not just adults: a 10 km race for adults, a 3 km race for teens, a free children's race for ages 5-10, and a 6.5 km walk.
The route runs through the town, making the adult race a short urban trail rather than a mountain course. Registration is straightforward and local: online sign-ups are managed by PB Organisation, and runners can also register at the fronton on race day. Food and drinks will be available on site. The event raises funds for the Zurekin association and the school parent-teacher associations, fostering a strong community connection around Ciboure's schools and families.
Hendaia trail - Hendaye
Hendaia Trail begins in Hendaye, a town in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques located at the far southwestern edge of the French coast. Situated in the heart of the Basque Country, it is the last coastal town before Spain, giving the race the distinct setting of a border town between the Atlantic Ocean and the mountains. This trail-running event offers two race options, designed for runners seeking a challenge beyond a flat road course.
The routes guide participants up to the heights overlooking Hendaye and return through the town’s streets, incorporating flat sections alongside more demanding terrain. The course crosses both beach and mountain landscapes, and it winds through an area rich in Basque identity, diverging from a purely wild path. While the Basque Country hosts trail races year-round, this event was established as Hendaye’s inaugural nature trail race.
Mugarik gabeko korrika - Hendaye
Mugarik gabeko korrika is an 11 km race and walk held in Hendaye, on the French side of the Basque border. Its full name, “Mugarik Gabeko Korrika - Carrera sin fronteras - Course sans frontières,” is in Basque, Spanish, and French, plainly stating the event's purpose: a run without borders. The ACTI association organizes it as a cross-border solidarity event, with entry fees and profits supporting partner groups that aid migrants in the local area.
The route begins in Hendaye and enters Irun, Spain, utilizing the Txingudi Bay area and the Bidasoa estuary. It is designed for both runners and walkers, welcoming non-competitive participants. The race also encourages reflection on the implications of border closures for local citizens and migrants in the region. Partner associations for this event include Bidasoa Etorkinekin and Diakité.
