Marathon races near Market Warsop

Vigilantes Cleethorpes Marathon is a low-key running weekend held at Haven Holidays Cleethorpes Beach holiday park in Humberston, at the eastern end of Cleethorpes. It takes place over a November weekend, featuring full marathons on both days with a mass start at 9am, and an option to start early. Relay teams participate in the Saturday marathon, and a multi-terrain half marathon runs concurrently with the marathon on both days. The marathon route follows flat, quiet, lapped roads within the out-of-season holiday park, experiencing minimal traffic and offering generous cut-offs. An aid station is positioned approximately every 3.7 miles, set up like picnic tables rather than a sports lab. Offerings include water, cola, crisps, nuts, cake, and Darren’s wife’s brownie, with many vegan brownies available. Participants receive a bespoke medal, a goody bag containing crisps, chocolate, and drinks, and beer is available at the event. Free parking is provided on the caravan park. Rail travel requires planning as Sunday trains do not arrive in time for the race start.

The Tissington Trail Half Marathon is a point-to-point race from Parsley Hay to Ashbourne in Derbyshire. It covers 13 miles along a disused railway line that formerly connected Ashbourne with Buxton. Participants can run on Saturday or Sunday. The course is traffic-free, multi-terrain, and gently slopes downhill, making it suitable for those new to the half marathon distance or runners aiming for a fast finish. Race headquarters are located at Ashbourne Leisure Centre. Coaches transport runners to the start at Parsley Hay, from where they return to Ashbourne. The route offers views of the Derbyshire Dales. The event sells out prior to race day and includes a custom medal, complimentary race photographs, and awards for top finishers.
