Weld Your Mettle Running Festival

The Weld Your Mettle Running Festival is a running weekend in May, taking place on a 146-acre private property in Northern Colorado, near Eaton. The course is a 2-mile groomed dirt loop that runners repeat. Race distances range from a 7K run or ruck up to 14 miles, marathon, 50K, 50 miles, 100K, 100 miles, and a 36-hour event. Relay teams can cover the longer distances, with 50 miles available for 2 to 9 runners and 100K or 100 miles for 2 to 12 runners. The loop format creates a campout festival atmosphere rather than a point-to-point road race, with Longs Peak visible from the property. Participants can opt for glamping tents with queen beds and bedding, or bring their own camping gear at no additional charge. Along with the standard finisher shirt and medal, the weekend emphasizes recovery and socializing. Amenities include sauna access, cold plunges, yoga, massage, a stretch zone, food, entertainment, bonfires, and a screening of the movie "The Barkley Marathons: The Race That Eats Its Young." Belt buckles are among the finisher awards, complementing the ultra-focused race options.

Honey Bee Hustle

The Honey Bee Hustle is a 90-minute challenge on a 1-mile loop in Loveland, Colorado. Runners complete laps until the time expires, aiming for the most laps or the fastest lap. The primary race starts at 700 S Railroad Ave in the morning, with packet pickup available at the location before the event. The race is part of the Honey Festival. Participants finish as live music plays and the nearby Farmer's Market opens. A Mini Honey Bee Hustle is available for children 10 and under, giving them 30 minutes to complete as many loops as possible. Awards are given for the fastest lap, most laps (men and women), best bee costume, and the "Bee"hind lap, adding a festival challenge element to the event.

About cycling & running in Greeley

Greeley Base Miles

Running: Locals run Greeley like a steady Z2 town with enough paths to keep weeks simple. Greeley Stampeders Run Club runs Wednesdays at 6:30 PM from WeldWerks Brewing. The loop at McCloskey Natural Area is 5 miles of soft trail around a pond. McCloskey Natural Area keeps the Firefly Trail easy on the legs. The Poudre Trail runs concrete from the Poudre Learning Center to Rover Run Dog Park. Sheep Draw trail links the Family FunPlex north to 59th Avenue. The lake loop at McCloskey Natural Area is 2 miles. Monfort Park works when you want a dirt path. Greeley Freedom 5k Walk & Run and Weld Your Mettle Running Festival are the anchor events.

Cycling: Locals ride Greeley for flat base miles, path links, and county-road rhythm. Greeley has about 85 miles of in-town bike lanes and a bronze Bicycle Friendly Community tag since 2013. One route runs 5 km with 119 m ascent and 119 m descent. Another route runs 7 km with 107 m up and 107 m down. Another route runs 7 km with 65 m ascent. One route runs 3 mi near Milliken. The climbs sit west toward the Rocky Mountains and Longs Peak. The named local race calendar leans running, not crit, gran fondo, or cyclocross.

Season: Locals hit the best riding months in May and July, and runners get the same clean base-mile window. Summer gives Greeley hot afternoons around 90-95°F, so early runs, evening intervals, and shaded park loops feel right. Summer nights sit near 60°F, which keeps recovery spins and longer Z2 sessions comfortable. The hottest stretch usually lands around the third week of July. Winter changes the schedule more than the map. Highs run around 40-45°F, and January brings the coldest days. Night lows drop around 15-20°F, so runners use concrete paths and riders keep the work shorter when the cold settles in.
