Fairchance Construction Octoberfest 5k Run/Walk and Mom Maruca's Beer Mile & Beer Mile Relay
This Uniontown, Pennsylvania event combines a Fairchance Construction Octoberfest 5k run/walk with Mom Maruca's Beer Mile and a Beer Mile Relay. The start is at 64 Barton Mill Road, with options for 1.6 km, 5 km, and 6.4 km distances.
The 5k serves as the standard run-or-walk choice. The Beer Mile and relay add a more playful element to the day. This structure suits an Octoberfest race day, allowing participants to select a standard 5k, a shorter beer-mile format, or a team effort via the relay.
Bryon Martini Jr. 5k Memorial Run/Walk
The Bryon Martini Jr. 5K Memorial Run/Walk is a 5 km community run and walk held at Washington Run Park in Perryopolis, Pennsylvania, scheduled for early October. A Kiddie K is also part of the event, allowing families to participate even if not all members wish to complete the full 5K.
The race honors Bryon Martini Jr. and supports local causes. All proceeds provide scholarships for graduating seniors at Frazier High School. Participants will also find raffles and T-shirts available on race day.
Miles for Migraine West Virginia
Miles for Migraine West Virginia is a free walk-and-run event at Hazel Ruby McQuain Park in Morgantown, featuring a 2 Mile Walk and a professionally timed 5K Run. The walk can accommodate any intentional movement chosen by the participant, making the day suitable for runners, walkers, and individuals seeking a less intense way to participate.
The event supports migraine and headache awareness, treatment, and research, with proceeds benefiting the West Virginia University Headache Center. The festival area will feature speakers and sponsors. Finishers of both the walk and run will receive medals, and participants are encouraged to wear purple for a chance to win a prize.
Pocono Mountains Marathon Race Festival
The Pocono Mountains Marathon Race Festival is a fall running event held at Promised Land State Park in Greentown, Pennsylvania. The start and finish lines are located at the Upper Lake Overflow Parking Lot. Participants can select from a 5K, 10K, half marathon, or full marathon. The marathon is a certified Boston Marathon qualifier, with PA certification number 21011NP.
The course winds through the state park during the fall foliage season, offering a wooded Pocono park running experience rather than city streets. Elite Feats organizes the event, and Mark Hughes is the race director. Awards are presented in male, female, and nonbinary categories, with age-group awards for nonbinary runners in the marathon, half marathon, and 10K. First-time half marathon and marathon finishers receive a commemorative plaque alongside their finisher medal. Registration includes a shirt, medal, and running socks.
Veterans Trail Festival
The Veterans Trail Festival begins and ends at the Recreation Hall in Raccoon Creek State Park, near Hookstown, Pennsylvania. The event features a 5K run/hike and also offers 20-mile and 50K trail races, accommodating walkers, newer trail runners, and ultra runners on the same day.
The 5K follows an out-and-back path with a water station at the midpoint. The 20-mile and 50K routes primarily use single-track trails, presenting rocks, roots, challenging footing, and steep inclines, which often lead to the typical finisher comment: “That was harder than I thought it would be.” The longer races include five aid stations and ham radio tracking. The event benefits veteran and military service members via the Outdoor Immersion Team; 5K participants can also engage in fundraising.
Oglebay Twinkle Trot 5k
The Oglebay Twinkle Trot 5K is a holiday night run at Oglebay in Wheeling, West Virginia, during the resort’s Festival of Lights season. Runners and walkers begin in the evening, starting and finishing on Camp Russell Lane near the zoo. Wolf Creek Race Management provides chip timing, but the event welcomes a wide range of participants: experienced runners, first-timers, joggers, walkers, kids, and special guests.
The course guides participants through Oglebay’s light displays, featuring millions of lights, festive scenes, and holiday music. All participants must carry or wear a personal light for visibility. Many runners decorate their clothing with lights and winter themes. The event also offers registration, packet pickup, a DJ, kids’ activities, free parking, and restrooms near the start and finish, creating a family holiday outing.
The Gratitude Run
The Gratitude Run is a Thanksgiving morning run and walk in Albuquerque, held at Arroyo del Oso Park near Wyoming and Spain. This is NHI's Annual Gratitude Run/Walk, featuring a 5K run/walk, a 1-mile walk, and a 400-meter kids' dash, accommodating families and casual walkers alongside runners.
The route begins and ends at Arroyo del Oso Park, utilizing a dedicated course through Arroyo del Oso Golf Course. The event centers on the 4 F's: Family, Fun, Friendly, Free. Donations are optional, with proceeds supporting NHI programming for the upcoming year. Running Medicine offers an optional stretch circle before the races, strollers are permitted, the course can be quite bumpy, and pets are prohibited on the course.
Morgantown Running 5k Turkey Trot 2026
The Morgantown Running 5k Turkey Trot takes place on Thanksgiving morning in Morgantown, West Virginia. The kids’ 800m fun run begins first, followed by the 5k at 9:00 a.m. The main race starts on the blue track near the WVU Coliseum. Runners and walkers cover the same 5k distance, with registered walkers expected to complete the entire course on foot. Children under 12 have the option to enter the 5k or participate in the shorter Turkey Fun Run, a two-lap event on the blue track divided into heats for different age groups.
The 5k route departs the track after nearly a full lap, descending Mon Boulevard before turning onto Boyers Avenue and Leeway Street. It then merges with the rail trail for approximately the last two miles, concluding behind the Seneca Center at Morgantown Running. Awards are presented to the top three male and female runners, and the top male and female walkers. Race results will be posted by age category. The first 1,000 registered participants receive socks. Morgantown Running also conducts random prize drawings. The event supports Girls on the Run of North Central West Virginia. Attendees may also bring donations for Christian Help, specifically men’s clothing, belts, shoes, and non-perishable proteins.

The route guides runners across a bridge onto the golf course, then combines cart paths, fairways, and a wooded trail before concluding at the brewery. Awards will be presented to the top three finishers overall and in age groups, starting with under-14 and progressing through standard decade brackets. All finishers receive a craft beer or soda, along with a beer glass. Those who register early are guaranteed a fleece-lined custom beanie.
