Mansfield Training Notes
Mansfield hosts 46 5K races in 2026 within 80 km of the city centre — upcoming dates, recurring series, and other races nearby, all in one place.
Mansfield runners get a park-heavy setup with North Lake Park, Kingwood Center Gardens, South Park, Gorman Nature Center, and Shelby Reservoir & Trails in the mix. Locals use parkrun Mansfield Weekly 5K at 270 Rae Ave for a timed Saturday effort, with starts at 9:00am from October through April and 8:00am from May through September. The Woodland Club brings the Woodland Eels 5K Run/Walk & Kids' Run into the local calendar. The Kingwood 5K, Shawshank Hustle, Mansfield and Lexington Turkey Trot, and Spherion Mid Ohio 13ER give runners anchor events without leaving the area.
The trail runs 4 miles from North Lake Park through Kingwood Center Gardens, Lexington, Bellville, and Butler. The trail runs 7 miles and showcases downtown Mansfield from the northern end. Y-Not Cycling & Fitness in Lexington handles rentals and repairs, so locals treat it like a practical stop before base miles. Township Road 50, St James Bellville Road, Haldeman Road, Ross Rd, and Fox Rd/Maxwell Rd give gravel riders short connectors. The Clear Fork Valley Scenic Trail and the western foothills of the Allegheny Plateau hold the climbs. The Mohican 100 Mile/100K/50K MTB Race OMBC is the anchor.
Spring and Fall give Mansfield the cleanest training window for running and riding. Summer brings very warm, sometimes hot, humid days, so locals move intervals early and use the shaded bike path course when it gets too hot. July sits as the warmest month, and Z2 feels better before the heat stacks up. Winter changes both sports with cold days, rain, sleet, snow, occasional heavy snowfall, and icing. Lake Erie sits north of the city and still has some influence, though snowfall stays lighter than northeast snowbelt areas. Wes keeps parkrun moving by clearing fallen trees, sweeping, shoveling, plowing, and reworking culverts to prevent ice.
