Nashville Training Notes
Nashville, Tennessee hosts 12 Half Marathon races in 2026 within 80 km of the city centre — upcoming dates, recurring series, and other races nearby, all in one place.
Locals run the Cumberland River Greenway when they want steady miles, and the nearly 12-mile point-to-point stretch keeps Z2 simple. Richland Creek Greenway gives about 4 miles, while Shelby Bottoms Greenway connects into Stones River Greenway for flatter work. 2 Mile Road Loop has long climbs at 3, 6, and 9 miles. East Nasty meets Wednesday at 6:00 PM at 12th and Holly, 12 South Runners rolls from Embers Ski Lodge, and Nashville Front Runners keeps it social. Hometown Half Marathon and the Nashville Turkey Trot anchor the calendar.
Riders use Franklin and Cool Springs when base miles need bite. GSD leaves the Starbucks in downtown Franklin every Saturday, and the A group sits in the low 20s mph while the B group averages 19 mph. TNW rolls from Tivity Health in Cool Springs on Tuesday nights, and the roughly 25-mile loop feels shorter and punchier. The climb runs 2 km and gains 604 m. Southside roads bring rolling hills, and Barfield Crescent Park has 7 miles of mountain bike trail.
Spring, Summer, and Fall are the best training months here, with parks, greenways, and group rides all feeling busy in a good way. Summer starts early because the heat pushes the schedule, and GSD B Group goes at 7:00 AM while GSD A Group goes at 7:10 AM. Runners still hit Shelby Park, the Cumberland River Greenway, and Percy Warner Parks, but long runs feel smarter before the day cooks. Winter shifts the bike rollout later, with GSD B Group at 8:00 AM and GSD A Group at 8:10 AM, and runners keep using the flatter greenways when hills feel less inviting.
