Spooky Dash 5k, 10k, 15k, Half Marathon
SAT OCT 3
Spooky Dash is a Halloween-themed race series in Long Beach offering four distances: 5k, 10k, 15k, and half marathon. It accommodates a broad range of participants, from families and novices to those seeking a longer beach run. The course is straightforward: runners use a public path, sharing it with pedestrians and cyclists, and follow marked out-and-back loops. The 5k is a single out-and-back, the 10k is two laps, and the 15k is three laps. The half marathon consists of three 4.36-mile loops, making the structure clear before race day. Aid stations are located at turnarounds and the start/finish, providing water, Gatorade, and Gu. Registration includes a custom finisher medal, a drawstring bag, complimentary race photos, snacks, samples, and online results available soon after the event.
HOKA Kodiak Ultra Marathons by UTMB
THU OCT 8
Big Bear Lake becomes the center for ultra-running with the HOKA Kodiak Ultra Marathons by UTMB, an event that has shown significant growth since 2023. This UTMB World Series race provides the hospitality of a mountain community, attracting thousands of participants and becoming a notable fixture on the ultra-running calendar. The start/finish line is in downtown Big Bear Lake, serving as a central hub for spectators to support the athletes. This race is particularly welcoming for first-time ultra-runners and those new to trail running, offering a serious yet supportive setting for challenging oneself on the trails.
Bagel Run 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon
SAT OCT 10
2XU Long Beach Marathon
SAT OCT 10
Before sunrise, runners begin on Shoreline Drive for the 2XU Long Beach Marathon, a 26-mile, 385-yard road race in Long Beach, California. The race weekend also features a half marathon, which can attract a larger field than the full marathon. The event originated in the early 1980s, paused during the 1990s due to financial difficulties, and then resumed under new leadership. Recent marathons have seen thousands of participants, a full half marathon field, and runners representing dozens of countries. The course covers much of Long Beach in a single loop. It directs runners through The Pike at Rainbow Harbor, onto a 710 Freeway on-ramp, over Queensway Bridge toward the Queen Mary, around the Rainbow Harbor lighthouse, and returns through the start area before heading toward the ocean. The middle section runs alongside the Pacific, through Belmont Shore, past Marine Stadium, around Colorado Lagoon, and by Long Beach Recreation Golf Course. Miles 16 to 20 involve a loop through Cal State Long Beach, after which Ocean Boulevard leads runners back to the Shoreline Drive finish. Local runner Kenny Williams completed every edition for the race's first forty years, and multiple other individuals had not missed a race weekend.
RunThrough USA Long Beach 5k,10k & Half Marathon Race Weekend October 2026
SAT OCT 10
The RunThrough USA Long Beach Race Weekend offers a 5K, 10K, and half marathon, starting at Shoreline Aquatic Park in Long Beach, California. Participants can select from 3.1 miles, 6.2 miles, or 13.1 miles along the coast of the Los Angeles area. The course is designed for fast times, with the Long Beach coastline serving as the primary scenery. RunThrough organizes the event, providing marshals to direct runners and encourage them at the finish. Post-race, the event village will offer food and beverages, including hot coffee and complimentary partner items.
Cahuilla Rez Ultra
SAT OCT 17
Cahuilla Rez Ultra offers multiple trail and road running distances on the Cahuilla Indian Reservation in Anza, California. Options include a Tribal Member 5k and half marathon, plus 6-hour, 12-hour, 24-hour, and 100-mile formats. This event takes place in a mountain desert environment and benefits the Cahuilla Band of Indians, with all proceeds after operational costs directed to the tribe's Youth and Family Committee. The race incorporates cultural and educational components about the Cahuilla people, connecting the event directly to the reservation. The primary ultra course is a 2-mile loop on a double-track dirt road, with approximately 170 feet of elevation gain per lap, totaling around 8,500 feet over 100 miles. The half marathon course covers 13 miles on reservation roads, featuring about 1,500 feet of climb and four aid stations. A main aid station at the softball field provides hot and substantial food choices, along with access to permanent restroom facilities. Camping and crew support are available for longer races, including tent camping on the softball field, car camping in a nearby dirt lot, and limited free RV spots. Participants completing 100 miles receive a buckle, all finishers get a medal, top finishers are awarded handcrafted prizes, and the Tribal Member 5k offers a buckle instead of a shirt.
Monster Dash 5k, 10k, 15k, Half Marathon
SAT OCT 24
The Monster Dash is a Halloween-season beach-path race series offering four distances that begin simultaneously at 7:30 AM: 5k, 10k, 15k, and half marathon. It is designed for runners seeking a straightforward, uncomplicated morning race, featuring bib pickup prior to the start, custom finisher medals, drawstring goodie bags, complimentary participant photos, snacks and samples, and results published online within 12 to 24 hours. The course consists of marked out-and-back loops on an open beach path, meaning runners will share the route with other pedestrians, runners, and cyclists. The 5k comprises a single out-and-back, the 10k involves completing that loop twice, the 15k requires three repetitions of the loop, and the half marathon utilizes three longer loops, each measuring 4.36 miles. The turnaround aid station is equipped with water cups, water bottles, Gatorade, and Gu gels. Groups of five or more runners are eligible for a discount, and volunteering provides a free race entry, even if a friend or family member volunteers while the runner participates.
Trick or Trot 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon by Califlow Runs
SUN OCT 25
Costumes are integral to Trick or Trot, a Halloween-themed run held by the sea in Long Beach, California. CaliFlow Runs hosts the event at 5400 E Ocean Blvd, offering a 5K, 10K, a USATF-certified half marathon, and a Kids 200 Yard Dash. The half marathon begins in the morning, followed by the 5K and 10K. All distances employ a group wave start. The race route follows a paved coastal out-and-back path, shared with walkers, strollers, and beachgoers. This creates a public beach morning atmosphere with added race timing, rather than a closed-road city event. The 5K consists of one loop, the 10K of two loops, and the half marathon of three loops, totaling a certified 13.1 miles. Half marathoners may request an early start via email; however, early starters are ineligible for awards. Water stations and restrooms are available along the course. The top three male and female finishers in each distance receive medals, and runners also receive evening results and complimentary race-day photos.
The Long Beach Halloween Run 5K. 10K. Half Marathon by Califlow Runs
SAT OCT 31
The Long Beach Leprechaun Run begins at Granada Beach, adjacent to Rosie’s Dog Beach, located at 5100 E Ocean Blvd in Long Beach, California. This St. Patrick’s Day-themed running event offers a Kids Dash, 1 Miler, 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon, allowing families and longer-distance runners to participate on the same race morning. The event uses chip timing, the course is clearly marked, and there are no late starts. The half marathon starts first in the early morning, followed by the 5K and 10K, and then the 1 Miler and Kids Dash. Restrooms are situated near the start, aid stations are placed approximately every two miles, and the event accommodates walkers and strollers. The 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon follow the Long Beach waterfront. Irish-themed cheer zones are present along the route, and golden coins are hidden on the course for runners to discover and exchange for prizes. A costume contest encourages participants to wear green attire, and all finishers receive a custom medal along with festive refreshments. Children have their own Little Leprechaun Dash, and the Shamrock Treasure Hunt is available for kids not participating in the races. The finish area maintains the theme with photo opportunities featuring pots of gold and rainbows, contributing to the event's character as a community-focused race.
Happy Halloween 5k, 10k, 15k, Half Marathon
SAT OCT 31
The Happy Halloween 5k, 10k, 15k, and Half Marathon is a Halloween morning race in Long Beach, starting at 7:30 AM. It offers four distance options on the same beach-path setup. The course features marked out-and-back loops on an open beach path, shared with pedestrians, cyclists, and other users. The 5k is one out-and-back, the 10k is two repetitions, the 15k is three, and the half marathon consists of three 4.36-mile loops. An aid station at the turnaround provides water cups, water bottles, Gatorade, and Gu gels. Registration includes a custom finisher medal, a drawstring goodie bag, free photos, results posted within 12 to 24 hours, snacks, and samples. Group discounts are available for parties of five or more.

The course uses a marked open path shared with pedestrians, runners, and cyclists, so this is not a closed-road race. The 5k is an out-and-back, the 10k repeats that loop twice, the 15k repeats it three times, and the half marathon uses three 4.36-mile loops. About Half Marathon races in Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario, CA

Inland Empire Miles And Rides

Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario, CA hosts 71 Half Marathon races in 2026 within 80 km of the city centre — upcoming dates, recurring series, and other races nearby, all in one place.

Riverside runners get a useful mix of park loops, city miles, and longer Inland Empire routes. Ryan Bonaminio Park gives Golden Strides 5k, 10k, 15k, Half Marathon runners a familiar anchor. ASP Run Club brings the weekend long social run on Saturdays at 7:00 AM PDT. ASP Chino Hills Social Run meets every Monday at 6:00 PM PDT. UC Riverside puts the PA for LA 5K at the Bell Tower. Mission Inn Run, Citrus Heritage Run, Pink on Parade, Reindeer Run Riverside, and Steps For Vets 5K keep the race calendar busy. The longest route covers 40 km and gains 458 m.

Riverside Bicycle Club is the big local name on the bike. The club started in 1891, has over 200 members, and puts on over 400 rides a year. The club rides Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, with A, B, C, and D groups. The Saturday Casual Ride stays short and mostly flat, with a regroup in the middle to socialize. The route covers 8 km with 246 m of ascent and 474 m of descent. The route reaches 543 m, so the climbing is real. Baldy via Devil's Backbone is the hard altitude day.

The brief does not pin one best month, so locals read the calendar and build from there. Summer keeps runners on 5K to half marathon options like Luz y Vida, Golden Strides, and Highland Family YMCA, with base miles and intervals fitting around club meets. Summer also keeps cyclists on regular Riverside Bicycle Club days and the Riverside Citrus Classic 2026 target. Winter changes the rhythm more than the map. Runners keep steady Z2 on routes like My Favorite Redlands 10 and The Loop. Cyclists stay practical, using cycleway, quiet road, road, paved, asphalt, and short unpaved sections when the plan calls for it.
