2026Citizens Run Against Cancer Half Marathon & 5K

Citizens Run Against Cancer is a yearly half marathon, half marathon relay, and 5K in Victoria, Texas, hosted by Citizens Medical Center. The half marathon and relay start early in the morning, followed by the 5K, accommodating both distance runners and those seeking a shorter community run. The 5K is open to children aged 7 and up, while the half marathon events are for runners 15 and older. The route begins in Downtown Victoria, passes through Riverside Park, and concludes at DeLeon Plaza, showcasing the city center. All proceeds benefit local cancer patients, and the event has generated over $150,000 for this cause since 2017. Riverside Ride

Riverside Ride begins Saturday morning at Riverside Park in Victoria, Texas, offering five cycling distances: 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 miles. This community ride, now in its 18th year and managed by the De Leon Club, provides multiple route choices from family-friendly to extended day rides, maintaining the same routes, historic setting, and SAG support. All routes include safety and refreshment stops with water, snacks, communication assistance, and portable toilets at intervals. The routes traverse Riverside Park and Historic Downtown Victoria. The 50- and 60-mile options extend to the Coleto Reservoir Dam and the Guadalupe River bottom, passing near the historic Mission Espiritu Santo ruins, adding a historical element beyond the park. The ride is open to recreational, newer, and experienced cyclists, with shorter distances suitable for children accompanied by family. Riverside Ride also coincides with KIDZFest, a free children's event featuring YMCA and Discovery Children's Museum activities, inflatables, and obstacle courses, with proceeds benefiting local youth organizations.

About cycling & running in Victoria

Victoria Base Miles

Running: Locals run Victoria like a small scene, and Riverside Park is the easy default. The Guadalupe River gives those park miles a steady landmark, and Downtown Long Loops keep weekday mileage simple. VARRA gives the city its rhythm with Monday night, Wednesday night, and Saturday morning runs. All are welcome, no invitation needed. The route covers 83 km and gains 36 m, so it works for steady Z2. Citizens Run Against Cancer Half Marathon & 5K, VARRA Firecracker 5k, Turkey Trot Victoria, Foot Pursuit 5K & Donut Dash, and Chick-fil-A Victoria 5K anchor the calendar.

Cycling: Locals ride mostly flat to slightly rolling roads, so Victoria rewards base miles more than hill hunting. Riverside Ride gives cyclists the anchor event, and Kiwanis Club of Victoria hosts it from 405 Memorial Dr. The ride menu runs from Family Ride 10K to 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 mile options, plus other distances. The 56 km route gains 57 m, which is about as close as local climbing gets. The 61 km route is flat, so intervals matter more than climbs. Victoria has road miles, not crits, gran fondo drama, cyclocross, or singletrack.

Season: Spring and autumn give Victoria the best training window, with mild to warm days that make runs and rides feel easy to schedule. Summer averages 22°C, so locals move workouts early and keep Z2 honest. Fall averages 8°C, so it can still bite. Winter stays mild most of the time, but occasional cold spells change kit choices fast. Winter averages 9°C, and snow stays very infrequent, so both runners and riders usually keep going year-round.
