About this race
The Fireball Classic includes a night 5K and a Kid's Mile on Neyland Drive in Knoxville. The children begin first, followed by the 5K runners as the summer evening progresses. This event is connected to Fourth of July activities and has been held for over forty years, establishing it as a local running tradition rather than a singular road race.
The 5K begins near the G-10 parking lot, proceeding along Neyland Drive in an out-and-back route before concluding near Neyland Stadium. The course is described as fast, and the Kid's Mile follows a similar out-and-back path on Neyland Drive. The Knoxville Track Club organizes the event, bringing together club runners, families, and young racers. Participants receive a shirt and finisher medal, while adults also get a cotton muscle tee. Post-race refreshments are available at the event tent.
