The Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Marathon, with 7,430 feet of elevation change, emphasizes climbing over achieving a flat personal best. This annual road race series in Roanoke, Virginia, offers a marathon, half marathon, 10K, team relay, double marathon, Sunday Slow-K, and a virtual option. The 26.2-mile marathon begins in Downtown Roanoke and concludes in Elmwood Park. The course ascends Mill Mountain, proceeds onto the Blue Ridge Parkway, then directs runners up Roanoke Mountain before descending toward town via the Roanoke River area and local neighborhoods.
