About this race
K-Town on the River Triathlons are held at Suttree's Landing on Waterfront Drive in Knoxville, Tennessee, with the Tennessee River influencing the entire event. The series offers athletes three distances: a Sprint, an Olympic, and a half-iron. The Sprint includes a short downstream swim, a 14-mile bike ride, and a 5K run. The Olympic race features a swim from Island Home to Suttree's Landing, a 25-mile bike leg, and a 10K run. The half-iron option begins with a longer swim, briefly upstream before heading downstream, followed by a 56-mile bike ride and a half marathon.
The courses utilize South Knoxville, differing from a closed stadium course. Cyclists will travel up Island Home and onto local roads, with half-iron participants experiencing more of the countryside south of the river. The run follows the riverbank through the historic Island Home neighborhood and onto the Will Skelton Greenway. Longer races extend past Meads Quarry and, for the half-iron, toward Forks of the River before returning to Suttree's Landing. The run course is shaded, alongside the river, and gently rolling. The event uses in-water wave starts, provides shuttles to the swim start, hosts a finish-line expo during the race, and donates 15% of gross revenue to charity partners.
