NCYMCA's Pie Run 2026

The NCYMCA's Pie Run begins on Thanksgiving Day with participants gathering in the Newport County YMCA parking lot. The in-person event features a USATF-sanctioned 5-mile competitive race. Walkers and families have the option of a 3-mile noncompetitive run/walk. The series also provides virtual 5-mile and 3-mile options, allowing those unable to attend in person to participate in the holiday event. Over 2,000 walkers and runners typically attend, establishing it as a large community morning rather than a small club race. The Pie Run was initiated by the Newport Running Club and is now organized by the Newport County YMCA. Attendees are encouraged to bring food donations for the MLK Community Center, and race proceeds benefit the Y's Community Support Campaign, funding local programs and scholarships.
