Each wave of the New Year's Run 5K/10K/13.1 SAN ANTONIO is limited to about 15 to 20 people, making it a small, private run instead of a large city race. It takes place in San Antonio around the New Year and includes 5K, 10K, and half-marathon distances. Runners and walkers are welcome, all paces are accepted, and participants under 18 require a guardian. Waves begin in the morning, and late arrivals can still participate while coordinators are present. The event maintains a simple setup: race bibs are distributed on race day, and there are no timing chips. Coordinators can assist in tracking a participant's time using their bib number upon request. The organizer sends final details and course maps via email before the race, and shirts along with other merchandise are mailed to each participant. Finishers may request a medal post-run, and the virtual option includes text support from a coach. A discount is available for those entering multiple races, and completing three runs results in a custom runner's trophy.
