About this race
The Race to Cure Sarcoma Philadelphia brings together hundreds at the Marine Parade Grounds in the Philadelphia Navy Yard for its annual 5K and walk, benefiting the Sarcoma Foundation of America. The event includes timed 5K races for adults and children ages 6 to 12, untimed 5K run-or-walk options, 1-mile walks, and virtual entries for remote participation.
The morning focuses on patients, families, friends, teams, and local supporters impacted by sarcoma, a rare cancer originating in bone or connective tissues like fat, muscle, nerves, blood vessels, and joint tissues. Fundraising is key to the day: the Philadelphia event has a significant campaign goal, individual fundraisers frequently collect hundreds of dollars, and teams can raise thousands, with contributions funding research and assisting over 200,000 sarcoma patients and their families.
