The Sonoma Fall Classic is a trail-running weekend at Lake Sonoma in Northern California's wine country, set during harvest season. It offers four race distances on the same course: 100 miles, 50 miles, a trail marathon, and relay races. The 50-mile event upholds the Lake Sonoma tradition, and the additional distances accommodate solo ultrarunners, marathoners, and teams, catering to a wider range of participants.
The courses feature miles of singletrack encircling the lake, providing consistent views of the water and the challenging, undulating terrain that has established Lake Sonoma's standing among West Coast ultrarunners. Complimentary camping is available, fostering a community basecamp atmosphere rather than a standard race setup. The series is managed by Aravaipa Running, in partnership with Healdsburg Running Company and Tropical John Medinger. Medinger's forty years in the sport connect the event to California's trail-racing heritage.
