The Texas Canyon Trail Run begins and ends at the Amerind Museum in Dragoon, Arizona. Both the 5K and 10K races take place entirely on unpaved trails within Texas Canyon, situated in the Dragoon Mountains. The starting elevation is approximately 5,000 feet. Participants may run or walk, and the event welcomes all ages and ability levels, with a limit of 700 participants.
The course crosses museum grounds, offering access to rock formations not usually visible. The terrain features balancing boulders, open areas with yucca and ocotillo, cacti, and scattered trees. Native American singers commence the race. Participants receive complimentary entry to the Amerind Museum. Proceeds benefit Amerind's initiatives supporting Native Peoples of the Americas through research, education, conservation, and community programs. This event has been held for over ten years, and recent races have featured Native American art prizes and food vendors.
