The Gauntlet Run provides a 100-minute clock, beginning at 9:00 am in Williams Park, for participants to run, jog, or walk their maximum distance. It is known as the original “How Far Can You Run In 100 Minutes” event. The format is straightforward: continuously move around a 0.9-mile loop until the time expires. Volunteers track each lap as participants pass the checkpoint at the Williams Park Shelterhouse, measuring the race by distance covered instead of a set finish line.
The loop is contained within Williams Park, offering water and Gatorade on the course. Music plays, and a notable Tootsie Roll Station adds a unique local element to the challenge. Special awards are given to the male and female participants covering the most distance, and all participants receive a finisher’s award. Following the race, runners convene at the Shelterhouse for refreshments. All proceeds benefit The Brandan’s Brigade Foundation, which supports middle and high school athletes facing financial hardship by providing them with quality running shoes, in honor of Fremont Elite Runner’s Club Hall of Famer Brandan Biggert.
