The Turkey Day Dash is a Thanksgiving Day run/walk in Conejo Valley, with close ties to Thousand Oaks and local fundraising efforts. Every dollar raised supports local nonprofits, such as Hospice of the Conejo, the Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks Foundation, and Scouting America Ventura County Council. Participants may run or walk, join a team, or form their own fundraising team with friends, colleagues, school groups, sports teams, or organizations.
The event features the Zachary Zernik 1 Mile Run/Walk, named for a Thousand Oaks native who participated in the Dash with his family. Zack was an Eagle Scout with a passion for sports, fitness, hiking, and the outdoors; he passed away while hiking in local open space. A portion of the event's proceeds benefits Conejo Valley Boy Scout troops in his memory, adding a personal local narrative to the holiday run.
