The Warrior Dash 5K is a February 5K for runners and walkers, supporting the Alabama Warriors adult goalball team. The team is based at E. H. Gentry, a division of the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind, with all race proceeds benefiting its athletes.
The cause is the event's most distinctive feature. Goalball is a competitive team sport for blind and visually impaired athletes, played with a ball containing bells. Players track the game by sound, communication, and teamwork. Race entries help fund uniforms, athletic shoes, tournament travel, practice gear, and training equipment. Supporters can also participate from the sidelines.
