The Vitruvian Triathlon, a middle-distance race, takes place annually in September at Rutland Water. The course includes a 1.9km swim, an 84km bike ride, and a 21km run. An Aquabike option is offered, excluding the run. Competitors must be 18 or older, and relay teams are permitted to divide the segments.
Starting at Whitwell, athletes swim 1.9km in two laps within a protected creek before moving to the bike course. The 84km bike route consists of three mostly flat, quick laps on open roads. The 21km run follows on two flat tarmac circuits. The race commences at 6:30am and concludes with a 3:30pm cutoff. All participants who finish are awarded a medal and a t-shirt.
