Utrecht

Utrecht is one of Europe's flattest and most cycling-friendly cities, with over 500km of dedicated bike paths and the iconic Vecht River loop that cyclists circuit year-round. The Duo Marathon Putten—a duathlon held 30km north—draws local runners and cyclists into the Veluwe's gentle rolling terrain, though most Utrecht training happens on completely flat ground through the city's concentric canal rings and surrounding polders. Runners favour the towpaths along the Vecht and Amsterdam-Rhine Canal for long, unbroken distances at near sea-level elevation.
