Rhodes Park Reserve and Tai Tapu Domain lend this third and final race a simple, functional winter character. Canterbury Duathlon Series Race 3 uses a run-bike-run format on flat terrain with little traffic, suitable for first-time duathletes while still offering a challenge for those seeking to push themselves. It is a low-key winter event, set in parkland rather than focusing on fanfare.
The first run circumnavigates Rhodes Park Reserve and follows the Halswell River walkway before returning, featuring both grass and sealed paths. The bike leg is an out-and-back course, and the final run circles the playing fields, creating a layout that is easy for spectators to follow. Attendees will observe beginners, walkers on the short course, experienced competitors on the long course, and individuals and families using it as a practical mid-winter workout.
