Rotorua MTB Hub at Te Putake O Tawa provides this winter duathlon with a genuine trail-centre atmosphere, distinct from a conventional road-race setup. This event is included in the RATs Winter Duathlon Series 2026. The atmosphere is well-described as focusing on “fun, fitness, and friendly competition.” Participants can be as young as 4 years old, with older juniors also welcome.
The structure is straightforward: an off-road run, then a mountain bike ride, concluding with a second off-road run. Expect a diverse group of young participants, runners, and families at the hub. The children’s races are segmented by age groups: 4-6 years, 7-9 years, and 10 years and older, ensuring an accessible experience.
