Run Upside Down
SAM OCT 3
Run Upside Down is a virtual race with a Stranger Things theme, allowing participants to run or walk wherever they are located rather than on a single, shared course. It provides five distance options: 1 mile, 5K, 10K, half marathon, and marathon. The event aligns with January, Human Trafficking Awareness Month, though participants have the flexibility to complete their selected distance at any point during the year. The "course" is determined by the participant's chosen route, which could be a local loop, a treadmill session, a trail, or an extended road route for longer distances. The registration fee covers a medal and bib, subject to limited medal availability, and race packets are dispatched soon after sign-up. A portion of each registration, specifically fifteen percent, benefits Operation Underground Railroad. This marks the event's third year.
Spooky Sprint - Springfield
DIM OCT 4
The Spooky Sprint - Springfield is an annual Halloween-themed run held in the Springfield, Missouri area. The start is at Willard High School in Willard. It is designed for families and runners of all abilities, offering a Kids Dash, 1 Mile, 5K, 10K, and a half marathon. A virtual race option is available for those who wish to participate remotely. The race utilizes the Frisco Highline Trail, providing a trail course for the longer distances instead of a road loop. Participants receive chip timing, live results, awards, a shirt, and a custom medal. It is part of the local Bodies Race Series, which emphasizes a family-friendly race day and accommodates runners across fitness levels. A "Volunteer then Run" option offers a community-focused twist, allowing individuals to assist at the event and then compete.

Team O’Reilly 5K Run/Walk
SAM OCT 17
The Team O'Reilly 5K Run/Walk begins at the O'Reilly Corporate Office in Springfield, Missouri. The event starts at 8 a.m. CDT and has a two-hour duration. This 5K, or 3.1-mile, run/walk is intended for O'Reilly team members, their families, and friends, not for the general public. The organizer has mapped out a 5K route originating from the corporate office. The course length accommodates both runners and walkers participating in the same event. The entry fee is $10 per person, payable on the event day via cash, credit or debit card, or by charging an O'Reilly team member account.
Spooky Sprint 5K
SAM OCT 24
The Spooky Sprint 5K begins and ends on E. Foster Street next to the Melrose Family YMCA, with participants typically gathering on the Saturday before Halloween. This event is the third race in the YMCA of Metro North’s yearly road race series, linking seven communities via local races. The Halloween timing is significant: participants are encouraged to wear costumes, and awards are given for the best costume and fastest finishers. The course guides participants down Lebanon Street, through Pine Banks Park, and along Main Street before returning to the YMCA. The field comprises runners, walkers, spectators, families, and many local residents; one year saw over 700 participants. The race generates funds for the Y’s Annual Campaign scholarship fund, supporting access to swim lessons, day camp, and healthy living programs for those unable to afford them. Organizers also embrace the theme: Health and Wellness Director Bernadette Farrell once wore a costume of the Spooky Sprint logo for the race’s anniversary.
Turkey Trails - Springfield

This timed 5K run/walk is Missouri’s largest Thanksgiving Day 5K, with over 7,000 participants annually. The route remains in downtown Springfield, attracting runners, walkers, families, and dogs.
