The JC Green Fall Half lMarathon, 10k, 5k -2026
DIM OCT 4
The JC Green Fall race series, now in its sixth year, offers a half marathon, 10K, and 5K in Jersey City on a single October race day. The event coincides with National Healthy Lung Month. Sustainable JC and CityTri collaborate on this race, which serves as a fundraiser and raises awareness for respiratory health. This focus is particularly relevant as Jersey City experiences high rates of respiratory issues, directly connecting the cause to the local community.
Ocean Running Club's Seaside Half Marathon and 5K
DIM OCT 4
The Ocean Running Club hosts its Seaside Half Marathon and 5K on the central New Jersey shore in Seaside Heights. The course is fast and flat, utilizing the boardwalk, beach, and Atlantic Ocean views. The event takes place in October, with average local temperatures ranging from the 40s to the upper 60s. Participants can choose from three options: the Seaside 5K, the Seaside Half Marathon, or the Seaside Challenge, which involves running both races consecutively. The half marathon follows an out-and-back route on the boardwalk and paved city streets through Seaside Park, extending towards Island Beach State Park. Both walkers and runners are welcome. Its flat terrain is ideal for those training for fall marathons in the New York and New Jersey areas. Over 400 participants finished a recent edition of the race, which has a history spanning nearly fifty years. The 5K begins before the half marathon, Challenge runners receive three medals, and proceeds benefit the Tri-Boro First Aid Squad and the Ocean Running Club Scholarship Fund.
Coffee Lovers Run 5K/10K/13.1 New Jersey October
SAM OCT 10
Coffee Lovers Run New Jersey takes place on Camden’s Wiggins Waterfront Trail, offering 5K, 10K, and half marathon distances. This October event also features a 1-mile Family Fun Run, suitable for adults, children, beginners, and those preferring a short walk over a competitive effort. The event offers a more intimate setting than large city races, with limited waves and a group-run atmosphere. All running paces are accommodated, and participants under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian. Timing is optional; runners may use an app to track their own performance and submit results for online posting, or forgo timing altogether. Virtual participation is available for the main distances, alongside an eco-registration option for those who do not wish to receive a shirt.
Superhero Sprint
SAM OCT 17
The Superhero Sprint is a 5K run/walk at Doty Park in Belvidere, Illinois. An officially timed 5K is available for runners and walkers seeking a recorded result. This event supports the Superhero Center for Autism, with registration and fundraising directly benefiting local children with autism and their families. Families can opt for a relaxed, kid-friendly dash without timing pressure, suitable for younger children or those participating primarily for the cause. Participants may establish personal or team fundraising pages, businesses can participate as sponsors, and volunteers assist with race day operations.
13th Annual Unite For HER Run/Walk
SAM OCT 17
The Unite For HER Run/Walk closes the streets of West Chester, Pennsylvania, for the town’s largest run/walk. The annual event features an in-person 5K run/walk and a 2K walk, with a Kids Dash included for families. The event raises support for people affected by breast and ovarian cancers across the country. Runners and walkers not in West Chester can join through virtual 5K, 2K, and half-marathon options nationwide.
Main Street Half Marathon & 4 Miler - Hunterdon
DIM OCT 18
The Main Street Half Marathon & 4 Miler is an annual October race in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, offering a half marathon and a 4-mile run. The half marathon begins at the Red Mill Museum in Clinton, and the 4 Miler starts on Kiceniuk Road in Annandale. Participants for both races receive bus transport from Hunterdon Medical Center to their respective start lines. A walkers-only start is available for the half marathon, making the longer distance accessible for those who wish to complete the full course without running. The course follows Hunterdon County country roads, with organizers as crossing a river, woods, and passing at least one private residence. The event concludes with a gathering at Hunterdon Healthcare in Flemington, with proceeds benefiting the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center. Both distances include a T-shirt. The event cultivates a local atmosphere while providing organized race-day services, such as packet pickup the day prior, shuttle buses, staggered starts, and a communal finish celebration.
Halloween Half Marathon
SAM OCT 24
Forbidden Run Fest
DIM NOV 8
Forbidden Run Fest is a fall trail-and-gravel race within Philadelphia's Wissahickon Valley Park, headquartered at Houston Recreational Center. Participants select from 10K, 10-mile, or half marathon distances, all crossing a blend of compacted dirt, wide gravel, single track, and rocky ascents. The event limits registration to 750 runners and employs chip timing, with aid stations positioned every 2 to 3 miles offering water, Gatorade, and snacks. It is designed for road runners new to trails and trail runners seeking a quicker course than a fully technical one. Much of the running occurs on Forbidden Drive, a 5.45-mile, 25-foot-wide gravel path with a mild maximum grade and significant daily use within the park. The half marathon incorporates approximately five miles of technical single track alongside eight miles of gravel, while the 10-miler features downhill single track and an out-and-back section on Forbidden Drive. All distances encounter a version of the race's challenging climb, Mount "What the heck," a rocky final quarter mile that adds difficulty near the finish. Following the race, participants receive fresh pizza, seasonal refreshments, live music, and comfortable race sweatshirts instead of typical disposable merchandise.
Run for Mental Health 5K/10K/13.1 Philadelphia, November 2026
SAM NOV 14
Veterans Day Freedom Run 5K/10K/13.1 NEW JERSEY
SAM NOV 14
The Veterans Day Freedom Run is an annual holiday race in Camden, New Jersey, starting from the Wiggins Waterfront Trail. It offers runners and walkers four distance options: 1.6 km, 5K, 10K, and a half marathon. The event is centered on gratitude for veterans, functioning as a community run rather than solely a competitive race. Some participants aim for a personal best, while others walk the waterfront route with friends or family.
NYC Trail Mix
SAM NOV 14
NYC Trail Mix is a Staten Island trail race held in November, starting from the Greenbelt Nature Center area. The longest distance begins at 501 Brielle Ave before sunrise. It provides ultra distances within New York City, including 50 miles and 50K, along with a 13.1K or half-marathon-style option for those who prefer trails without an all-day commitment. The runner limit is 450, and with no prize money, the event feels more like a dedicated trail community gathering than a professional competition. The course covers over 35 miles of Staten Island trails, with approximately 80 percent on unpaved surfaces. The 50-mile race starts at 5:30 AM, the 50K at 6:30 AM, and the shorter race at 8 AM, giving the ultra runners a dark, early start into the Greenbelt. Redpoint presents the event, with proceeds supporting the Greenbelt Conservancy, directly benefiting the parkland. The series is new, but its appeal is straightforward: a genuine ultra trail run within NYC, in a borough often traversed by highway.
Veterans Day Freedom Run 5K/10K/13.1 PHILADELPHIA
SAM NOV 14
The Veterans Day Freedom Run 5K/10K/13.1 Philadelphia is a running event held on Veterans Day. It is based in Camden, New Jersey, across the river from Philadelphia. Participants can select a 5K, 10K, half marathon, or a 1.6 km run, accommodating walkers, beginners, and those seeking a longer distance. The start is located on Wiggins Waterfront Trail. The complete course map will be emailed to participants. Best Races is the organizer, and the event's purpose is simple: to run or walk around Veterans Day as a public thank-you to veterans.
